Not only did they ruin the ad, but they butchered the song. It actually costs them more to use the original, so most commercials feature covers.
This was a TV ad back in my mother land which was on just before I moved to the States. I don’t realise how thick and raw the Australian accent is until I saw this!
Poor Melinda Gates. She has to suffer the burden of living in a house bigger than some cities with her husband Bill and their kids. And they have to struggle to get by with the paltry $48 billion that Bill has in his bank account. But the worst part of all of it: Bill won’t let any Apple products in the house, especially the iPhone or an iPod. It’s Zunes and Windows-based phones for the Gates family.
Melinda said “Every now and then I look at my friends and say, ‘Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone.’”
What a miserable life she has! BOO HOO! I know the people who have been out of work for 6 months and are eating Ramen noodles on a daily basis are feeling sad for her. Tonight, before you go to bed, light a candle and say a prayer for Melinda, that one day she can overcome this adversity and get the iPhone like her friends have. Also pray that she stubs her toe.

I can’t say I’m a John Mayer fan BUT I have to give him props for this one!. Conan’s last ”Late Night” show before taking over “the Tonight Show” was masterful. The whole thing from the clips he showed to the cameo appearances from guests, to his beyond classy sign off speech giving props to Letterman for being the guy who essentially invented the late night vibe, just fantastic. Conan introduced this as a “video message from our good friend John Mayer”, I have o admit I laughed pretty hard.
